California's Comprehensive Water Package
Speaker: David Sandino, Chief Counsel
for the California Department of Water Resources
Tunneling in Sacramento for Wastewater
Transport
Speakers: Ian Ward-McNally, Construction
Manager (Hatch Mott MacDonald) and Rigo Guizar, UNWI Project Manager, (Sacramento
Regional County Sanitation District)
"Water is the lifeblood of everything we do in California.
Without clean, reliable water, we cannot build, we cannot farm, we cannot grow
and we cannot prosper. That is why I am so proud that the legislature, Democrats
and Republicans came together and tackled one of the most complicated issues
in our state's history. This comprehensive water package is an historic achievement.

TWO NEW PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT COURSES!!
Dealing with Change – What They Don’t Teach You in Construction Management
101
Construction is dynamic, and changes are inevitable. The
key to success is how efficiently and effectively the Construction Manager deals
with changes. This
seminar will address means of avoiding unnecessary delays that can result from
change, including ways a schedule can be a tremendous tool, or a misleading trap,
in efficiently managing changes on a project.
Using real life changed condition examples, the instructor will
teach you strategies you can implement to avert, and avoid creating, some of
the stumbling blocks often associated with change.
Instructor: Leo Sumner, Principal, The Tiburon
Group, LLC

Tricks, Traps & Ploys of CPM Scheduling (What Owners Need to Know
about CPM Scheduling)
This workshop will focus on what Owner’s Facilities/Construction
Management personnel should look for in the Baseline CPM schedule from their
contractors on the Owner’s construction projects. It will address how the
schedule can be set up to sequester float and put the Owner in a liability position.
It will also address how the schedule can be manipulated during updates to hide
delays, shift the critical path to put the Owner in a liability position, or
set the ground work for a delay/disruption claim.
-
Understand the fundamentals of scheduling review and analysis of baseline
CPM schedules
-
Recognize how scheduling abuse and errors can derail a project and lead to
disputes and claims
-
Understand resource constraints and how they can help or derail
your client’s position
-
Discuss the use of update schedules to analyze delays, deal
with changes and evaluate recovery plans
