Emerging Professional Project Tour: 2060 Folsom & MIXER

Learn About: Come learn about the fantastic construction of the 2060 Folsom St project from procurement and continuing construction, including delivery method. Topics to be discussed include:  

•    Project construction 

•    Successes and challenges faced during construction 

This event will kick off with a short presentation and then a project site tour with Q&A. PPE must be brought to the site and is required for the tour (including hard hat, safety vest, safety glasses, and gloves). Please wear long pants, sleeves, and hard-soled boots (no sneakers, open-toe, sandals, heels, loafers, or dress shoes). 

This tour is also limited to 15 people and tickets are expected to run out quickly! 

Background: The design for 2060 Folsom makes the most of the opportunities offered by its park-adjacent setting to create 127 new homes and an active new community hub for the Mission District, inspired by the Mission’s unique blend of community participation, working-class heritage, and environmental sustainability. 

The building is conceived as a ‘front porch’ overlooking the new neighborhood park.  The inviting and transparent ground floor holds a diverse array of activities and community-serving uses. Public uses line the street edges for visibility, framing those for the housing in the middle.  A café animates Folsom Street and anchors the prominent southeast corner; PODER and Jamestown Community Center occupy the southwest corner. The residential common spaces – community room, resident services, and the garden courtyard– have front-row seats overlooking the center of the park.

Mixer: 

The CMAA Emerging Professionals group invites both those attending the 2060 Folsom project tour, as well as others, to join them for a networking mixer at Slate. The networking mixer will follow the project tour, and tickets include appetizers and one round of drinks.
