President's Message

THANK YOU

With 2017 behind us, I am excited about the upcoming year for Northern California Chapter of CMAA.  I would like to begin by personally thanking Richard Standiford for being such an extraordinary leader and for laying the ground work for our chapters future successes in the coming years.  I would also like to thank all of the present and past board members for volunteering so much of your personal time for the betterment of one of our industries best organizations.

With a new slate of officers that were seated in October at our annual meeting, our new board was formed and is already making a significant impact on our organization already.  Most of this year’s board will be returning from last year, so the same talented team will be in place to continue providing quality programs and events.  We have also been lucky enough to add a few new board members that have expanded our vision in a way that I believe will make the Northern California chapter the envy of all of CMAA’s regional chapters.

CHAPTER HIGHLIGHTS

This past year included raising nearly nine thousand dollars at the golf tournament for CM student scholarships, and a record attendance at the Annual Gala in May.  At the Gala this year, we created some new awards categories named the President’s Awards where we recognize individuals within our membership that are making positive changes in our industry.  This past year we also made some incredible strides in engaging our owner membership including developing a formal strategic partnership with San Francisco Public Works.

Our education programs have been drawing record numbers which clearly is a sign we are creating educational content that our members clearly want and need.  In addition to all that, we have freshened up our approach to communication, not only are we reviving our newsletter, but we launched this new website.  We are very excited about this because we now have more direct control over its content which will allow us to keep the website fresh and current.

Our chapter has grown to over 1,000 members and is continuing to grow with 10% growth projected for this year. This is a real acknowledgement both of the value CMAA brings to our profession and the leadership and achievements of our board, committee members, and active membership.

GET INVOLVED

Going forward we hope to get even greater involvement by chapter members, including young career professionals.  We believe this is the key for our chapters success and to improving and expanding our programs and events.  We will also be creating some new and exciting opportunities to get involve, not only in the chapter, but also in our communities.  With our new Community Engagement chair position, we will be sponsoring some events that gets our members helping to give back to our communities with different build back organization.  Keep an eye on our website for more information to come.  If you would like to get involved either in a subcommittee or a community activity, click here.

With respect and gratitude, I truly appreciate your support with our group and look forward to seeing much more of you in the months to come.  May we all have a productive and prosperous new year.

Respectfully,

Kevin E. Wagner

President
